Los Gatos
As a young family moving onto this land from a more urban environment, this client wanted to honor the legacy of native species present, while also introducing many useful species that would increase biodiversity and provide opportunities for interaction with the land.
This design was produced in collaboration with Santa Cruz Permaculture.

Site Analysis
A “Zones of Use” framework was used during the analysis phase of this project to show areas of most frequent use, as well as convenient pathways.
Concept Design
Featured design elements include a food forest, rainwater storage tanks, chicken area, greenhouse, beehive, elderberry crops, and a compost area.
Irrigation Plan
An irrigation schematic was created to map out hydrozones for each proposed planting, and show potential areas for rainwater harvesting and greywater use.
