Pacifica
Completed as a class exercise, the brief for this project was to use a specified color palette as inspiration to create a design for a tropical side yard on a narrow hillside in Pacifica, CA.
This design was produced as part of the Merritt Landscape Horticulture program.

Color Inspiration
This split complementary color palette integrates both warm and cool tones, highlighting green and blue tones already found in the landscape.
Plant Palette
The plants were chosen for their growth habit, color scheme, and ability to grow well in Sunset Zone 17.
Plan View
A digitally water colored birds-eye view shows plant placement and color in this narrow side yard design.
Elevation
Banana plants were placed as focal highlights in strategic areas to provide privacy from neighbors, while colorful low-growing plants provide color and interest at eye level.
